What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on a new night club adventure at Pacha in Sydney, showing every Saturday night. I’m one of the Creative Directors and have put four looks together along with my amazing LSG Creative Team which includes upcoming artists such as: Jayde Turner-Ledwidge, Stephanie Estephen, Liz Tieu, Nicole Abela and Lauren Walker.
What has been the biggest challenge in your career?
At this point in my life I am facing my biggest challenges yet. Being a mum with a 22-month old daughter and 32 weeks pregnant while LSG Creative is growing beneath me; I am running a small business of 2 years - LSG Salon Double Bay and LSG Artists where there are 6 Artists I look after. To top it off, having recently become a Matrix ambassador and Session Guest Artist in the Design Team in addition to being the Creative Director for Pacha and never wanting to say ‘no’ to anything. I just get hungrier for new projects but it has been challenging keeping on top of it all. There have certainly been a few breakdowns, but these things make you stronger, right?
Could you give us a tip for working in the industry?
When you love what you do it shows in your work. To be successful you need to be able to develop a personal relationship with your clients, this will open the door to additional jobs. For me this included opportunities such as commercial advertising, television shows, events and integrating into the fashion industry.
What are your goals for the future?
· Continue to build my relationship with Matrix and grow my business, in other words - do what I love!
· I would like to continue to challenge myself and my team and watch them grow
· I would also love to get back on the New York, Paris and Milan Fashion Week teams, I had to let them go to have babies, which brings me to my next goal - raise 2 beautiful children.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become an artist?
Success is hard work and requires you to start with a positive attitude and lots of PATIENCE, PERSISTANCE and PASSION. To stay in the industry you have to work hard and keep evolving your passion whilst attempting new challenges, ultimately try and understand what it is you want and go for it!
What do you see as the next big trend in hair?
I think the bob is coming back with vengeance with texture. Shorter than the LOB and blonder or possibly a shade of creative color you could find in the Matrix ColorGraphics range.
Lores is Matrix Australia’s Session Stylist. Her salon- LSG Creative- is located in Sydney.
